■What is ATEX Directive?
a)Directive 94 / 9 / EC
Equipment and Protective Systems intended for use in potentially Explosive Atmospheres

b)CE marking and ATEX
ATEX is a part of CE marking’s targets. ATEX covers conventional European explosion-proof standard.

c)The Purpose of ATEX
・Preventing static charge
・Preventing ignition by sparks generated from friction, impact and abrasion
・Preventing ignition by temperature increase from the above
・The responsibility lies with its manufactures
・Certification by classifying Zone/Category

d)Zone/Category Classification
ATEX classifies objects into the categories of hazardous zones.
In EU, as of July 1, 2003, it was mandatory for machines used potentially explosive atmosphere to obtain ATEX certificate.

■What we do for ATEX
As an example, we introduce you a part of features of Nara Paddle Dryer delivered in EU as a heat-treatment facility for starch.

b)Selection of flameless explosion diffusion system for the body of dryer and bag filter
・Explosion diffusion by vent panel
・Absorption of flame and blast by mesh filter

c)Temperature measurement of bearings
・Temperature measurement of bearings which are sliding portions
・Predict the abnormal heat and prevent spark ignition

d)Attachment of flap damper
By attaching the flap damper in air intake pipe, the equipment on the air intake line is protected if an explosion should occur.

There are differences in protection levels required by ATEX depending on each Zone or Category.
We design the powder handling systems such as Fluidized Bed Dryer and Tornesh Dryer as well as Nara Paddle Dryer to meet ATEX requirement corresponding to each project.

In addition, we can provide the explosion pressure shock resistant structure for our Surface Modification System, NARA Hybridization System.
We can also provide an explosion suppression system.
